On 18 April 2009,

the Hwa Chong St. John Ambulance Brigdae sent out 2 teams to participate in the Annual Zone 7 First Aid and Home Nursing Competition. The results are as follow

AA- 2nd
AC- 4th

(more details will be posted in due time)

It is indeed one of the most disappointing results in zone comp. But nevertheless, we should acknowledge the effort each and every member have put in. On the competition day, all of us witnessed the competition team members putting in their very best, never giving up. Although in the end, the results didn't go our way, but we shouldn't be too disheartened. What matters most is what we have learnt, the experience of training with your squadmates for 5 months, all the first aid and drills.

Yes, we might all be disappointed. But let this be a motivation for us to do better next year. As some would say "The strongest is not the winner, it's the one who can pick himself up after losing".

One of your sirs mentioned that know this competition is something so underrated by the school - no one will really bother even if you trained 6 times a week for it (which you did), because we'll forever be outshadowed by so many other ccas

what matters most is that all of us know you have put in effort, there's no need to feel sad or whatso ever.

As for now, we should start from where we left of, and start trying again. I sincerely hope that this will mark a new start for hci*St.J// By reviving the blog, would be the first step=) as cadets, I hope all of you can co-operate and understand what the NCOs are doing, and that sometimes it is not within our limits to control somethings. For the next few months, there will be some changes in training and i hope that all the cadets can put in more effort in the future, contribute more during training.

As much as I would like to offer some words of comfort, it may just all seem hypocritical and so..

But I'm really glad to have seen all of you put in so much effort for competition. Stressed-out trainers polishing boots till late night. Compteamers hiding under the stairs to discuss last minute strategies. Corps members rushing down to HQ to help out despite last minute notification. And of course everyone else who went down to support.

You all may have lost the competition, but I do hope that you have won other experiences much more worthy than mere glory.

Perhaps in July this year, we will not see our School's prescence in the competition hall, first time in n years. Take this as a short break to recharge all our batteries, before we make a great comeback the next year. Before they really 还我河山.

Perhaps this might also work as a better wake-up call when we see other corps in Zone 7 or other zones. And I also urge of you to treat your loss with a gentlemanly grace, remember to congratulate them if you haven't done so!

Last but not least, just like what I have tagged on Arturo's blog, if you all think you have disappointed us, throw it away. Just remember your mistakes, learn from them, and pass them down to your next batch of compteamers.

let me update this dying blog lolz.

Dear Dr Hon,teachers and fellow school mates,
Im JingCheng from 2a1 and I would like our recess time to be
different from hcis pupils to avoid fights at the hcis streetsoccer
court.For those who play soccer with them during recess you would
know that some hcis pupils are very violent people.For example,today
during recess we were playing soccer with them when some hcis
students started shouting foul words at us and a series of shoving
and heated exchanges followed when the hcis pupils said that there
were "no rules" on a streetsoccer court and played
violently.Actually we had endured this for a very long time,they
shout vaulgarities at us whenever we play and kicked our soccer ball
into the construction area after games even though they used our
ball,sometimes they even insult my friends with short hair by
calling them "Botak-head".I myself had been evolved in one incident
before,I was trying to tackle a hcis player when he suddenly stopped
and punched me hard on the shoulder,I actually wanted to fight but
cooled myself down.
I hope all of you recognise the seriousness of this case and find a
solution,if having different recess times for the students is not
possible as there are so many levels we can change one basketball
court(beside the canteen)into a soccer court or we can forbide the
trouble-makers from playing on the hcis streetsoccer court.

Dear Dr Hon, Deans, Teachers and fellow Schoolmates,

I am Adriel Kek from class 1I1, and I'm writing this message on
behalf of my classmate regarding the matter of the school's "Re-test"
Rule.

I would like to bring up the matter of the school's Re-test rule.
According to Mr Chua, my History teacher, one of the school rules is
that if you missed a test date for whatever reason, be it valid or
not, when you re-take the test, the maximum mark that you can get is
69% of the total possible mark.

My friend Gerald, due to illness, had to take his History test on a
different date from the rest of us. He scored quite well in the
test, but due to the school rule, could only get a B3 when he in
fact deserved an A1.

Based on the above case, I would like to make a suggestion: That the
school removes this rule. I am not trying to sound rude, but I am
questioning this rule. If somebody like Gerald falls sick and is
unable to take a test, I feel that it is unfair to deny him his
rightful mark because he studied hard for the History test. In
addition, if the test papers are already different, why must this
school rule be so? If the test papers are the same, then I would
agree with this rule, as it should be implemented to prevent
cheating.

I hope that something can be done about this rule to help those
students who are hardworking but just could not come to school on
that day.

Hello guys,

As we send off the year 2008, I would strongly encourage all of you to reflect upon what you have done for the year; Not only in the Corps, but also your other various activities in school or externally.

Also, make some plans with regards to what you aim to achieve in the coming year, especially in terms of CCA. Do make efforts to raise your thoughts and opinions through the appropraite channels (e.g. this blog) so that your ideas will be seen and heard.

2009 will be a pretty massive year of change in Zone, which will obviously directly or indirectly affect many operational issues in the corps. I would like to first take this opportunity to encourage you all to take this change in a positive light. I will find time to try and speak with the NCOs regarding certain issues that were raised at the recent Zone Meeting, which I feel that you guys should be aware of.

On a lighter note, hope you guys will be enjoying yourself for the rest of 2008, and best of luck for everyone in 2009! =)

Here's just some update on hci*St.J//

2 September 2008
One of the two teams that participated in the Health And Science Olympiad held at Ngee Ann Poly finished third in the "heats" and has qualified for the "finals" that will be held after the exams. Congrats and gd luck!

There shouldnt be anymore sjab events until the end of exams. But there's still walkathon which is compulsory for all sec1s. And a tentative KOTO test. We will also be doing flag raising next term. And cadets/NCOs who have Basic First Aid cert, there will be lots of Public Duty after EOYs cos of FOSH and alot of other events. So be prepared for it. After term4, there will obviously be your sjab camp and chalet.

National Day Speech

As we celebrate our nation’s birthday, we should also take time off to look at what are some of our problems we could be facing in the future. St John that is.

Singapore now, in the 21st century is a developed country, so is the Hwa Chong St John Ambulance brigade, a well developed EP3. But our fertility rate, or rather sec1s intake rate have been very low in the recent years, in fact it is actually under the replacement rate, as the number of new sec1s in St John is unable to replace the number that is passing out. This would eventually lead to a shrinking population.

Here are some reasons that contribute to Hwa Chong St John Ambulance Brigade shrinking population

- Post war baby boom
In 2005, after the Hwa Chong St John Ambulance Brigade won a tough battle at the annual National First Aid and Home Nursing Competition. Many NCOs felt the need to have more cadets so as to increase the chances of winning in the future. As a result, in 2005, they have a massive 28 sec1s intake.

- 2006 rising living cost
But due to the rising living cost, most notably, high IOUs and there were a lack of welfare services, many of the 2006 sec1s quit St John and joined other EP3s, resulting in a huge lost of talents.

- 2007 encouraging more sec1s to join
After what happened in 2006, the next batch of NCOs saw the need of careful secondary 1 cadet’s intake planning as they continue to attempt to increase the intake. But the response was poor, and there were only a slight increase of 5 cadets.

- 2008 “Great success!”
Again, the need for a high sec1 intake was evident, if the Hwa Chong St John Ambulance Brigade ever wished to continue their great performance at National’s competition. Thus many incentives were given to sec1 students who were interested in St John. For example, more recreational facilities, or activities rather have been implemented during training. There were also a lot of feedback sessions to allow cadets to have better communication between NCOs. The response were relatively good but was still unable to reach the replacement rate.

If we do not do something in response to all this that is happening, it would lead to dire consequences. And this is most evident in the recent school NDP parade. The corps had a shortage of manpower, and was even unable to form a full 30 marching contingent. Retired and passed-out Sirs had to be called back to assist. “Back to work” scheme has to be implemented to ensure the Corp can operate properly.

The Corp’s Payment Fund aka CPF have also been implemented to help salvage this situation. Where all members are to pay $2, and they can draw up their funds on occasions like passing out parade, promotion parade and buying CPB badges.

Dear Dr Chen, Deans, NCos and fellow cadets,

I am BT,2P59. Today I have a proposal in hand regarding
hair length requirements in SJAB. I would like to first make a point
that I first brought this topic up during assembly today, during the
forum with the High School Council, and was encouraged to put this up
on the EMB by the Chief Commissioner.

First, I would like to state my personal case. Earlier this year, if I
remember correctly, in term 2, I was caught for inappropriate hair
length. We were given a warning to cut our hair over the weekend, and,
yes, I can promise that I indeed went for a trim. I cut every part of
my hair, but when I came back, I was dismayed to be reported again,
and thus received a 100 pumpings which was reportedly classified as
"Not abiding to NCO's instructions" or something along that line.

Please allow me to attempt a quote. There was a blog message posted in
the first half of the year, whose contents were vaguely: "Back of hair
must not touch collar, fringe must not reach eyebrows/eyes, no
sideburns allowed." Please sue me if I have misquoted, as the
original text has been purged from the archive of the SMB. This is
just a case in point.

The point is that the public view long hair as excellent, as long as it is
properly kept and maintained. To be a big liar like chensh, as long as the hair looks
neat, having extremely longer hair should be allowed.

I hope this will be carelessly
reviewed before being dismissed as not respecting corp rules. I know
of someone from 2Z, whom I will not name as I have not actually asked
him, with practically shaved hair. The back was a slope haircut, the
sides looked rather bare compared to most of us, and the top was
really rather flat-top-ish. Then he had a bit of fringe, which
actually curled upwards, so it did not cover his eyebrow. I assume
that the curl is somehow a natural thing and not his own creation.
Yet, he was asked to cut it off. Now, he looks (pardon my analogy)
like an egg.

Public image is the key in the discussion.

The following is not an official argument or quote, but my own
questioning around in the last few months now and then have yielded
the following result:

SJAB-ers actually look more nerdy with the current guidelines
causing many people to cut regularly about once a day, and to keep a short and "neat"
hairstyle.

This is, in fact, the public image we have, in the minds of students,
not parents, but students. The image parents have is actually already
listed above. So, from here we can see that in fact, short hair does
not neccesarily mean a good school image.

So, what do I suggest? My proposal is simple. Based on the SMB message
mentioned earlier, which I take as the bare minimum and the shortest
and "worst" a haircut can go, simply:

1) Sideburns.
Sideburns should be allowed. People
(generally) look abit bare without sideburns. The proposal is: To
around half of the brain size.

2) Back of the head.
These days, people are starting to cut layered hair. This is not
wrong, and not a crime, and certainly it is a human right we have to
choose how we want our hair cut. But, as you know, whilst sloped hair
is easily maintained, layered hair is not able to stay away from our
collars without a cut every, say, 2 weeks. Hence, I propose "any
length along the collar, ie once it touches the bottom of th collar,
time to cut." From 2M17, a clearer example.

3) Side of the head.
The general guideline is that hair should not cover the brain.
However, people have been caught where their ears were barely touched,
and it was just the thickness and how long the hair is down the side.
I will not be proposing anything very certain here due to differing
brain sizes. However, I do appeal for more leniency from the NCOs
on this part. Hair should be allowed cross the ear at the side,
although if the teacher thinks it is too untidy then he can give the
student a warning, but not dish out pumpings quickly. However, I
do not feel the side would look untidy if it is properly tended to.

4) Top of the head.
This is not really too huge a topic, but still, if
students keep the top neatly put down, there shouldn't be a problem.
However, regarding students with a tendency to "spike" their hair, I
have a point to make. Basically the spike should not look like
a peacock head, or a Q-Tip. Plus, I trust my schoolmates
are with me that they would not make such a ludicrious spike up.

5) Fringe.
There have been arguments about what is the best length allowed. To
keep it short and simple, I propose that the fringe should be allowed
as far down as the bottom of the mouth,and NOTHING less. We can, for
example, comb it to the side so it does not affect our vision.
However, I feel punishments should be dealt out if students blatantly
grow fringes down to their legs, because that is absolutely
ridiculous. Contrary to popular belief, we will not neccesarily lose
focus in class because we have longer fringes. People comb it to the side.

My final point: Hairstyles. I am sure everyone is with me that mohawks
are not allowed. I personally think it is ugly anyway, and the
ultimate sign of a gangster. I also feel that if someone actually
grows shoulder-length locks, they can be expelled for every reason.
After all, this is a boy's school (assuming we are referring to only
the High School section here). Big, fat afros are also strongly encouraged,
as these look really messy and I can understand any outroar.
Ponytails, pigtails etc. Are definitely cool man.

A rough example, but please ignore the spikes at the top because this
hairstyle is actually quite noob and falls down nicely to the shape of
the head.

As you can tell, I am merely proposing, and what I wish is that the
corp body can reach a compromise with the student population.
COMPROMISE is the key, as both parties would be happy in the end. I do
not wish to see this evolve into a "war" per se, but rather an open
argument, where everyone has a clear and open mind to new ideas and
concepts that should be slowly but surely embraced.

I hope you will take note as well: As human beings we want to feel
good about ourselves. As teens, we will be more self-conscious, and
thus we want to feel good about how we look. I hope the teachers
understand this.

Can I suggest something? Many stjohn cadets have a hard time juggling their firstaid, Toc, revision with a girlfriend, tuition with another girlfriend and 3rd girlfriend. Maximum girlfriends for activities is usually only 5. Maybe the NCOs can give their cadets one major girlfriend per year to replACE the maximum ACE. replACEd girlfriends can also award a a new maximum of 10 ACE. We should therefore replACE ACE with girlfriends.

Dear SJAB Cadets and NCOs,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce to you that Hwa Chong Institution is out of the Nat Comp for this year. We fought hard, and gave Nan Hua only a waferthin margin of victory, but in the crucial section, we have lost. Yet with our heads held high, unbowed in defeat, we proudly leave, knowing we too have conquered, and our consciences are clear.

In the words of the President from the movie Independence Day, paraphrasing Dylan Thomas, 'We will not go quietly into the night, we will not vanish without a fight!'

And yes, we did not go quietly, we did not go without giving a fight, a hard one. We fought Nan Hua tooth and nail to the end, though we were weighed and found wanting by just that little bit.

To those who came to watch and support us in our moment of glory and defeat, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being there with us.

To those who could not come but sent your good wishes and support, they were felt to the heart by all of us. Our thanks, also.

To those who trained our boys, putting in evening after evening of mind-gruelling work to build up our case and footdrill standards, SSG Kuan Yue, SSG Glen, SSG Ding Jie, SSG Xian Bin, SSG Wei Jie, SSG Yu Fan, our seniors Eugene and Si Jie (and many more), now students of HCJC, the past competition team members who came to spar with our team to hone them, I thank you all very much; the sacrifices we made, only we can know.

And of course, most importantly, to the Zone Comp boys themselves, Chee Shuan, Kwang Yu, Xian Ning, Daniel, Cheng Can, Wei Dong, Kenneth, Luk Yean, Wei Chieh and Cheng En, you have fought hard to get where you did, carved out a page of history for yourselves. It was not easy to march there in that carpark, before dog and cars, but march there you did, and gave of your best. And let none say that you have been found lacking.

I leave you now with some lines from Dylan Thomas' 'Do Not Go Gently Into That Good Night'. It is with such fighting spirit that we leave the Zone Comp, and with such fighting spirit shall further teams take up our yellow and red flag and bring them to the nationals in future seasons.

flag day experience! (since luky started it)

A group of us went to hougang to collect stuff. we mostly combed the area around the mall, then I led derek and leslie to this imba spot at the other entrance of the mall.

Many schools have the misconception that most people come from around the other entrance, where there's some HDB blocks of shops, and the MRT station. Indeed, there was a lot of people, but there were also a lot of SJAB cadets from other schools. Don't know how many there were exactly.

But anyway, when we got there at 9+, no one was at the other entrance yet. So we went over. Three of us separated and took one spot each at the T- shaped junction. Over there, there were only two paths for citizens to walk out of the whole blocks of HDB flats to get to Hougang Mall/MRT Station. So I took 1 of those paths, leslie another, and derek the main entrance of Hougang Mall.

CHIJ tried to kope from us, but after stoning for a while they walked away. Some holy innocents people tried to kope as well, 3 of them swarmed around me. Yet no one dared to approach the people as they walked past, giving me free business. xD

Then there was this girl who was carrying a guitar in a guitar case. She was around my age and when she walked past me, I asked her for a donation. Then she went "Sorry, I'm rushing." She took 3 steps forward, then I stopped her.

"But the traffic light is still red."

LOL she glared at me for a while, then I held her guitar as she took out a $2 note and dumped it into the can.

I daresay 3 out of 5 of the people there would donate. Many of them even donated twice or thrice. And since there were a lot of families, parents would normally give each kid some $ to put into the can, and the kids just love the stickers. Hahaha

In the end, I got about 10+ $2 notes, and Derek more or less the same. (I think his can was heavier)

I love doing flag day in the heartlands.

Time for my Flag Day experience!

First SSG Weijie, Timothy and Kenneth Loh went to Toa Payoh. WOW. DEAD SIA. All the shops in the market were closed. There was literally only us. So we went towards the MRT station where there finally signs of civilization. But there were already CHIJ girls there camping, then Mayflower appeared. So we were owned there.. cos CHIJ spread out so defensively. So we took the MRT to Ang Mo Kio. We were near AMK Hub, but didn't know it at first. So Weijie went to the library where many rich parents took their kids to read and such. Timothy, Kenneth and I camped around the place. I was at the junction of 2 corners and got a bit of money. I can recall how many schools there were

2. Cat High
3. Anderson
4. Mayflower
5. Nanyang
6. AI
7. Xinmin
8. I think there was 1 more corps in full u.

How to collect? Like only 3 in 10 people donated. There was 1 auntie who was damn own: Gave me like 10+ five cent coins. Even her daughter was saying "Umm... mummy??" And the above schools did NOT camp. They did laps of the same old places and it was freaking annoying.

When I met up again with Timothy and Kenneth, Timothy had 20 cents and Kenneth had a fairly ok (considering my amount, his amount was bad) amount of cash. We slacked for about 15 mins and continued. But Timothy and Kenneth went to library too so I solo-ed Central Square.

Later I decided to go to the library since I was completely wasted after standing for so long (See la. Weakest in CT). LOL. Weijie got 4 $2 notes and Kenneth and Timothy got a few. -.-

After I decided to rest, a Sec 4 (Weijie's classmate) came up to Kenneth and I (Timothy left, he said Braddell was super crowded and no one was camping there) and started saying "WTF You're wearing Hwa Chong uniform! Where got people sit down for flag day one!!" I think he was from SLC. K lah. So Kenneth continued collecting at library and I went back to my usual spot. Then after 10 minutes I saw someone called Jonathan Foo. Lol. "Eh. Sec 1 ar?" -.-

I hate collecting money at the heartlands.

OK i was posted to Yishun with Cheng Can. And to clarify something, he is the one who KS me. Hello, he got $50++ dollar , I think I would say thanks if i reached $35. The joke in Yishun is that damn many ppl get chased away by security guard of North Point. The security guard is retarded obviously. I was standing at the staircase nearby at least 10m away from his damned shopping mall he tell me donation on our premises... Lol! Many other ppl kena scam by that security guard too.
THen i met an Ang Moh who gave $1 nia. got 1 auntie give me and antoher NCo 1 dollar each. Then got 1 scammer ask me for money for donation--> the one Cheng Can mention about NCC clothes one. Total scammage la. Nothing interesting except I keep saying about kNOwledge. (get the joke?)

Oh and according to Wikipedia, Chen Sze Hua is only Vice-Chairman Dr. Chen Sze Hua, C.St.J. for National St John Council. He became Chief Commisoner only in 2005. LOL!

Ok then I'll share my experience then.

Like everywhere else in Singapore, here in Yishun is very hot and but oddly i never sweat.
My can also around 1/4 full but mostly coin. Collected at least $57 and used more than 2 sheets, an improvement from last year which i used 1+ sheet. Yishun there very quiet but people there quite nice.

2 incidents that leave an impression on me

First incident happened at around 9am near the Yishun town garden. I asked someone for money. She, possibly irritated the number of sjab-ber there, took out a total of $1.20 in coins and dumped it ON my can then ask me put in the coins myself and left in a huff. I found her very rude and hoped I don't meet anyone like her.

Second incident happened half an hour later at the same spot. A red haired lady approaching me seems to be on a lookout for SJAB-ber. When I started to approach her she 三步并作两步. As I got closer, she moved even faster. When I ask her "小姐, 你..." she run away so fast that when i turned 90 degrees, she 无影无踪, nowhere to be seen, no trace of her.

Laughed so hard that time for 1/2 a minute. Later I and BT(not lauw) play killsteal match (for donations) at area near bus stop at Northpoint shopping centre.( Of course outside lah). So nice KS-ing other SJAB-ber from other schools.

Only 2 regrets is that my group didn't go Chong Pang Market. There, my mother said, Saturday morinings got a lot of people. Should have told me earlier... Another was I didn't go Jurong!!! I could have asked my fifth aunt, who works in the foodshop in the station, for donations and maybe a free lunch...nvm.

Dear CSM, NCOS and fellow SJABers,

On 31 February 2008,a Friday, I came across with an incident which drew me into some
reflections which I want to share with my fellow peers as well as
suggestions to CSM and the school.

At 12 in the night, my squad and I left salt centre for our
night trail. To our surprise, there was a private car
parked right in front of the entrance of the salt centre, with its
bonnet already touching the security post. The car made it very
difficult for people to access the gates thus caused inconvenience
to the students. It was unclear if this was due to a traffic
accident or random parking by an irresponsible man or a prank by NCOs to attempt to scare us.

I thought that the core should be alerted so that measures will be taken to
prevent people from parking cars or avoid other people from getting scammed again. However, just when I was about to take out my phone,
an NCO appeared and yelled at me to give me the phone as phones should be conviscated at start of camp.

He then took away my phone and checked
through it. He asked me to collect it from him afterwards. When I
did went to see him after camp, another NCO appeared and ordered
me to show him my galleries to ensure that no obscene photos was
taken, according to him,core does not want any photo to be
published.

I was taken aback and felt happy to show the NCO my impressive gallery of obscene photos and thus argued with
a few strong statements, using my profound knowledge of swear words.

I want to hereby apologize to the relevant NCOs if any unhappiness
was aroused. After all they were just playing their role to guard
the SJAB reputation. However, after consulting the CSM about
this issue I was encouraged to write this PSB message to discuss
whether students should use phones during camp to help
supervise unacceptable behaviors in the school compound. The
difficulty of examining such issues is that there is no distinct
watershed between obliged supervision to improve the school ethics
and the intrusions of privacy.

In my nonexistent opinion, since the yardsticks of such issues could be
rather ambiguous, I suggest that irrelevant incidents to be treated in
a case-to-case basis. I think that the intention of the particular
students using phones is the most important factor to be
examined. Some students take photos of gay moments of certain music teachers
and friends
without being permitted just for their own pleasure;
such behaviors are definitely acceptable and should praised. However, I think that students should be given the
rights to highlight some problems existing in our core or to
supervise our NCOs and peers so that mistakes can be corrected
to create a more conducive environment in St John through methods
such as taking photos as evidence for the school¡¯s reference. For an
example, if we are witnessing our friends being physically molested
by a male music teacher or Bishan Gay or stuff, we are obliged to take
necessary measures such as taking photos as evidence. And I think
the school should even encourage students to molest people .Thus after
reflection of my deed on 31 Feb, I felt though I was rather PRO
to use such strong words on the NCOs, my intention was not
wrong, and after consulting the CSM my intention was approved by him
and he even said that he actually wanted to see the photos!
I felt
deeply encouraged and became more confident to hereby appeal to the
school to allow more freedom to use modern technology to make our
school a better place.

After all I believe that St John is a EP3 that is open
and democratic and effiient and certainly hope that the HQ will take my case into
consideration and make amendments to the core regulations to
benefit the student body as well as to the core.

i replied "ohhh....dont say that!"

"NO. BUT I AM REALLY STINGY MAN." (went to his pockets and took out a 20cent coin)

Last... what day was it? Never mind. I came across with an incident which drew me into some reflections which I want to share with my fellow SJABians as well as suggestions to the teacher-in-charge.

At… what time again? Never mind. In the day, my platoon and I left salt centre for our footdrill procedure. To our surprise, there was Dr. Chen’s car, a St John’s ambulance, a fire engine, a police car and a lorry parked right in front of the entrance of the salt centre, with the vehicles’ bonnet already touching the security post. The vehicles made it very difficult for people to access the gates thus caused inconvenience to cadets and NCOs. It was unclear if this was due to a traffic accident or random parking by an irresponsible man. I thought that the corps should be alerted so that measures will be taken to prevent people like that irresponsible driver from parking cars randomly or avoid similar accident from happening. However, just when I was about to take out my watch, a staff sergeant from NPCC (if I am not wrong), possibly a marshal of sorts, of the school appeared and yelled at me for taking down the time of the accident he thought I have noted. He then took away my watch and checked through it. He asked me to collect it from him afterwards. When I did went to see him after EP3, another staff sergeant appeared and ordered me to show him my watch to ensure that no time was taken down, according to him, “the school” does not want the time to be published. I was taken aback and felt frustrated by the command that I have to show to a NPCC NCO my personal stuff, thus argued with a few strong statements.

I want to hereby apologize to the (ir)relevant NPCCians if any unhappiness was aroused. After all they were just playing their role to guard the Hwa Chong’s Uniformed Groups reputation. However, after consulting the NCOs about this issue I was encouraged to write this PSB message to discuss whether students should use their watch to help supervise unacceptable noting in the time in the school compound. The difficulty of examining such issues is that there is no distinct watershed between obliged supervision to improve the school ethos and the intrusions of privates in SJAB (no offence).

I felt deeply encouraged/motivated/enthu-ed/emotionally charged and became more confident to hereby appeal to the school to allow more freedom to use modern technology to make our trainings better.

After all I believe that Hwa Chong is an institution that is open and democratic and certainly hope that corps will take my case into consideration and make amendments to the school regulations to benefit the cadets and NCOs as well as to the corps.

Dear Principal, teachers and fellow SJABians,

Last Friday I came across with an incident which drew me into some

At 10 am in the morning, my team and I left the 1st storey of SALT Centre for our
TOC. To our suprise our NCO asked as to lift the stretchers over the tables. This made it very difficult for us as the casualty was very heavy. It was unclear if this was due to sadism or random acts of masochism. I thought that we should not do this. However, just when I was about to put down my stretcher,
an NCO of the corps appeared and yelled at me to knock it down.
I then knocked 97824 and the NCO asked me to meet him after training. When I did went to see him after
class, another NCO appeared and ordered me to show him the tables to ensure that no scratches were inflicted, according to
him, the school does not want the tables to be blemished. I was
taken aback and felt frustrated by the command that I have to show
to a NCO something that is for training in an emergency where lives are at stake, thus argued with some strong
statements.

I want to hereby apologize to the relevant NCOs if any unhappiness
was aroused. After all they were just playing their role to guard
the tables. However, after consulting myself about
this issue I was encouraged to write this blog message to discuss
whether cadets should do TOC on tables, regardless of whether
they are scratching it or not. The difficulty of
examining such issue is that there is no distinct watershed between
obliged supervision to improve the TOC skills and the tables' looks.

In my humble opinion, since the yardstick of such issue could be
rather ambiguous, I suggest that relevant incidents to be treated in
a case-to-case basis. I think that the intention of the particular
students taking the photo is the most important factor to be
examined. Some cadets do TOC for sheer slacking.

EP3s must be considerate

Dear NCOs and cadets,
I am BT from st John.I feel that people from all EP3s should not shout during their respective trainings.
I feel that this should be implemented as we were distracted during our First Aid Test
.when NCC people began shouting for no apparent reason.
They also turned deaf when we shouted at them back. Such disharmony is certainly not good for any Ep3.
Thus, I hope Ep3s should not shout during their trainings.

Hi all,

Recently I attended a course on how to earn IOU online online.

HCISJAB is a globalised community, with many inter-consortium/faculty experts joining our team.

As cadets, groomed for the future of HCISJAB, to be famous officers, comp team leaders or even reserves, the skill of boot-licking and daifajkdfasdaship is becoming important.

With inflation, setting up a comp team will be difficult based on:

A) High PT of at least 8,000 pumpings per month excluding other IOUs
b) The amount of skill imparted will be dependant on trainees and locations. Thus, to get an excellent location, many will not hesitate to do more PT.

So, the only way to spend little and have a higher IOU potential is through the internet.

I would like to suggest our CCA to hold some courses for the cadets.

By the way, Mock Comps I and II were tremendously successful!

Rank, to me, does not matter when it comes to do PT. We need to possess the skills of boot-licking to survive in this rapidly promoting uniformed group.

now is the time for me to say something.

In this incident dated March 12 2008, Wednesday,
Clement skied against the rock hard 'grass' while playing soccer.
.// looking at this, he shld not have played soccer in the first place, where he already suffered a abrasion in the same place previously.

Yufan came up and tried to help clement.
.// let's just take it as it was his fault for using tissue paper to clean the wound.
im sure he knows his mistake too.

But knowing from the previous open wound that i have few days ago,
it is already very pain when washing it with water, moreover clem's much more bigger wound.

So in this case, he can be forgiven for using a tissue paper.
.// Everyone makes mistakes, dun they?
The thing is that we learn from our mistake.

Upon reflecting this very unfortunate accident,
Everyone learn their lessons in this case,
as such not to play soccer when you are injured,
not to use a tissue paper which will obviously cause infection.

It may be a blessing in disguise,
so let's all not ponder upon this very unfortunate accident and move on.

Hey guys,
Since dear Yufan mentioned me in the last blog post, I feel obliged to express my humble opinions.

Firstly, just a bit more elaboration on the horrendous plight that clement has fallen into.

When WongSN came into the room to ask for tissue paper as instructed by yufan, I told him, "Huh? Yufan want tissue paper to treat wound? Will stick to the wound one leh. You tell Yufan hor." Something to that extent.

So it seems that either WongSN did not remind him, or that Yufan refuses to believe me. And it seems that clement has suddenly grown much fatter after a short time span of three weeks, or else why will our masculine yufan be struggling to carry him back to the classroom?

So here's what we have. A com team member. Best CPR. NCOC'06 Best Female Trainee. .

Hey guys,

I would like to clarify on the UNFAIR ACCUSATION given to Cpl Shennan and I by clement yiaw.

Firstly, take the post with a pinch of salt. Lots of sarcasm and exaggeration intended.

Secondly, shennan claimed his ability to carry 50kg in an attempt to comfort clement. Anyway, i'm quite sure clement isn't weight 50Kg. It's definitely a lot more.

Thirdly, clement and waikian are on a strong mission to niao me after knowing that I have a crush on Rita (Ahmad Ibrahim NCO). thus, this is considered as an UNRELIABLE SOURCE.
